Conda Awards

A couple of days ago the 33rd Annual presentation of the City of Newcastle Drama Awards took place. We would like to congratulate the CONDA-winning cast and crew of ‘As You Like It,’ named best non-professional production of 2011! Tutor Emma Wood won Actress in a leading role in a drama or comedy for Born Yesterday (Newcastle’s DAPA Theatre). Carl Young also picked up the award for best professional director for the show and we couldn’t be more excited to have him returning to direct ‘A Comedy of Errors’ for Shakespeare in the Park 2012.

Big congratulations to all our 2011 CONDA nominees: ‘As You Like It’ (Best Non-Professional Dramatic Production, Best Ensemble, lead actress Michelle Pastor, director Carl Young, musical director Christopher Harley), ‘2039’ (sound designers/composers Liam Bird & Ben Freeman) and Drew Holland who received a Newcastle Youth Theatre Development Grant. Also to our Associate Director Rachel Jackett and former Artistic Director Brendan O’Connell who received nominations for their work on Stooged Theatre’s ‘Rabbit’ (Best Actress, Best Director), as well as workshop tutor Emma Wood and director of our first production for 2012 (A Comedy of Errors) Carl Young for nominations working with other Newcastle theatre companies.

Well done to all winners and nominees! Another fantastic year of theatre awaits!
